Philharmonic auditions are submitted via video and are due August 14, 2023 by 4:30 p.m. (the Monday prior to the start of the semester). Students should first register for the course (so they receive access to Canvas materials). Should you not make it into the ensemble, you may then drop the course. Please see the audition packet for audition excerpts, information, and video submission link. Audition results will be posted by the first Tuesday of classes. The ¿ªÐÄ¹í´«Ã½ Philharmonic Orchestra meets Tuesday/Thursday, 1:40-2:55 p.m. in Greaves Concert Hall. The Philharmonic is directed by Dr. Amy Culligan.
The ¿ªÐÄ¹í´«Ã½ Philharmonic Concerto Competition is open to orchestral instrumentalists currently enrolled in the ¿ªÐÄ¹í´«Ã½ Philharmonic course OR enrolled in the ¿ªÐÄ¹í´«Ã½ Youth Symphony Orchestra. There may be up to a total of four winners total, with 0–3 winners in the college division and 0–2 winners in the Youth Orchestra division. This opportunity gives talented musicians the experience to perform solo works with orchestra. Students are selected through competitive audition and must also be available and enrolled in the ¿ªÐÄ¹í´«Ã½ Philharmonic course OR the ¿ªÐÄ¹í´«Ã½ Youth Symphony Orchestra during both the semester in which the concerto competition and performance of the piece occur. ¿ªÐÄ¹í´«Ã½ college students of any major are welcome to participate, but they must be full time and enrolled in applied lessons (during the competition and performance semesters). For ¿ªÐÄ¹í´«Ã½ Youth Symphony Orchestra students, they must be taking private lessons (during the competition and performance semesters).
